Our Step-by-Step Trichology Treatment Process
At Pharma Aesthetics Trichology, our objective is to tackle the problem from the root, not just the surface. We begin with a 30-minute to 1 hour in-clinic consultation for an in-depth analysis of your hair and scalp.
Detailed questionnaire
We review symptoms, history, lifestyle, and goals.
Physical hair & scalp examination
We check scalp health, density, and hair quality.
Pull test
Assesses shedding pattern and hair fragility.
Trichoscopic examination
High-magnification scalp and follicle analysis.
Clear recommendations
We suggest the best plan for hair loss or scalp concerns.
Next steps & follow-up
Ongoing support to maintain progress and results.
A trichoscopic examination uses a digital microscope called a trichoscope to examine hair and scalp at high magnification. This helps us understand follicle health, scalp condition, and patterns that may be contributing to shedding or thinning.
Your hair is part of the integumentary system and supports warmth, identity, facial expression and confidence. If you need expert hair care guidance, please book a trichology appointment today.
There are typically 100,000 to 120,000 hairs on the scalp, with only a small portion shedding at any one time. Hair growth generally progresses through three stages:
Anagen
Growth: 2–6 yearsThe growth stage. Matrix cells divide and the hair lengthens. The visible hair shaft is keratinised (dead material), so cutting hair does not cause pain.
Catagen
Transition: 2–3 weeksThe regressive stage. Cell division slows, the follicle shrinks, and visible growth pauses.
Telogen
Rest: 3–4 monthsThe resting stage. No growth occurs. At the end, the hair sheds and is replaced by a new hair. Losing around ~100 hairs/day can be normal in this phase.
Types of Trichology Treatments and Targeted Areas at Our Essex Clinic
For abnormal hair loss to occur, something has to interrupt the normal order of the hair growth cycle. There are various types of abnormal hair loss or alopecias which include:
- Cicatricial (Scarring) alopecias, which are permanent
- Non-cicatricial alopecias, which may or may not be reversible
The non-scarring alopecias include the androgenic alopecias:
- Male Pattern hair loss
- Female pattern hair loss.
With the androgenetic alopecias, Testosterone is the culprit as it gets converted into Di-hydrotestosterone (DHT) by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase.
Other factors affecting the hair growth cycle include:
- Anaemia
- Malnutrition
- Growth hormone deficiency
- Hypothyroidism

Feel free to call or visit our clinic. Whether it’s Trichology Treatment or other aesthetic services, we’re here to answer questions and create a plan tailored to you.
We often see people who have tried multiple options without success. A structured assessment helps identify what’s driving the shedding, then we build a corrective plan. Many clients notice improvement over the following months with consistent care.
We have supported young men with recession at the temples and crown, women noticing reduced thickness in their 40s, and clients with traction-related hair loss from long-term styling or braiding.
Our approach is built around root-cause analysis and a tailored plan. Where clinically appropriate, we may support investigations and interpret results to guide diagnosis and treatment choices.
The next step is an in-clinic consultation so we can assess your scalp, hair density, and shedding pattern. From there, we’ll recommend a plan designed to help you regain control and support healthy regrowth.
Your journey to improvement is one call away. If you’re interested in Trichology Treatment in Havering or any other location we serve, contact us and we’ll guide you with a personalised plan.
