Alfuzosin is available as a long-acting (extended-release) tablet to take by mouth. It’s normally taken once a day, right after eating. Alfuzosin should not be used on an empty stomach. Take alfuzosin after the same meal every day to help you remember to take it. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and if there is anything you don’t understand, ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain it to you. Alfuzosin should be taken exactly as prescribed. Do not take more or less of it, or take it more frequently than your doctor has suggested.

Do not break, chew, or crush the tablets; they must be swallowed whole.
